The China Bicycle Association (hereinafter referred to as the "CCA") said that in 2022, in the face of many uncertainties, the bicycle industry is under pressure to move forward, the overall development is stabilizing, and the main economic indicators such as output, revenue and exports are basically flat or slightly lower than before the outbreak of the epidemic, and the development of the industry has shown strong resilience. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the output of enterprises above the scale of bicycles fell by 32% year-on-year, and the output of enterprises above the scale of electric bicycles increased by 9% year-on-year.

 

 

 

The domestic sales of middle and high-end sports bicycles increased by more than 30%

 

 

 

Specifically, in 2022, the entire industry presents three characteristics.

 

 

 

First, the product structure continues to be optimized. According to incomplete statistics, as of now, the domestic sales of middle and high-end sports bicycles have increased by more than 30%. At the same time, the average unit price of exports reached 89 US dollars, an increase of 20.9%, and the added value of products was significantly improved. The production of lightweight and intelligent electric bicycles has increased significantly, and lithium electric bicycles with intelligent functions are favored by young consumers.

 

 

 

Second, economic benefits have improved significantly. The operating income of enterprises above the scale of the electric bicycle industry increased by 3% year-on-year, and the profit increased by more than 20% year-on-year. Profits were higher than the average level of the light industry, and the economic benefits of the industry continued to improve.

 

 

 

Third, export growth fell sharply. The export volume of bicycles decreased by 39.7% year-on-year, and the export volume was 3.721 billion US dollars, down by 27.0% year-on-year; The average unit price of exports was 89.1 US dollars, an increase of 20.9%; Exports of parts and components were $5.169 billion, down 7.3% year on year.

 

 

 

This year, the production and sales of electric bicycles are basically flat or have increased slightly

 

 

At the beginning of 2023, the bicycle industry faces new changes in the international industrial chain and division of labor system, and comprehensive costs continue to rise. Among them, there are threats to the security of industrial chain and supply chain, and key core technologies are subject to others. Some small and medium-sized enterprises have been shut down, and the foundation for industrial recovery is not solid. Domestic and international consumer demand is insufficient, and bicycle export orders have not fully recovered. These problems should cause the industry to attach great importance.

 

 

 

At the same time, because the long-term trend of China's economy has not changed, the bicycle industry is ready to meet the new cycle of warming, and the international competitiveness advantage and development resilience of the industry have not changed. The bicycle industry will adhere to the stability of the word, and strive to achieve the goal of stable growth throughout the year. The Association expects that in terms of bicycles throughout the year, the output will be flat or slightly down compared with 2022, and the economic benefit indicators will continue to recover and develop; Electric bicycles, because it is widely used as express delivery, takeout and other logistics industry, as a means of transport consumption, has also become a useful supplement to the growth of the industry, is expected to be the annual output of electric bicycles, sales basically flat or small growth, especially lightweight, intelligent high-end products are more and more sought after by young people.

 

 

 

Accelerating the release of domestic demand potential has helped the industry stabilize and recover
